Ideogram Character
The first character consistency model that works with just one reference image. Now available to all users for free on ideogram.ai and the iOS app!
Characters have always been at the heart of human expression. From ancient mythologies to modern cinema, it's the characters that we remember and love. In today’s digital world, we’re not just capturing characters, we’re also creating them. But unlike real people, digital characters don’t hold their shape. And without consistency, even the most compelling creation can lose its believability.
Ideogram Character changes everything. With a single input photo, your characters (both real and imagined) become the thread of a continuous narrative, rendered with striking fidelity across infinite settings. Use curated templates or craft your own prompts to place them in vivid new worlds.
Here are a couple examples to show what's possible with just one reference image:

Ideogram Character Workflows
To get even better results , you can use Ideogram Character in combination with our existing features. We will use this image as a character reference for the following examples:
Advanced Character Placement = Magic Fill + Ideogram Character
Do you have the perfect scene but need to add your character? Magic Fill makes it effortless.
Upload or select a photo you like and click Magic Fill
Use the brush tool to create a mask over the area you want to replace
In the prompt box, add your character reference, then type in your text prompt and click Magic Fill
Describe/Remix + Ideogram Character = style transfer magic!
If you have inspiration images you want to replicate for your character, you can use Describe to generate a text description of the image and then use that as the text prompt. Take it one step further to perfectly match the style by using Remix.
Upload or select a photo and click Describe or Remix
The prompt box will then populate with a detailed description of the image. Tweak the prompt as you like
Add character reference to the prompt and click Generate
Further Customization: Editing the Character Mask
We define your character by automatically detecting the face and hair of your input image. You can edit your character by editing the masked area. This means you can easily remove the hair or include the clothing in your input image.
Here's an example of different masks on the same input image and the same prompt: "A man robbing a bank".
